Cultural

Religion and Culture are the two faces of a coin. They portray the identity of an individual, without which a human being is incomplete. The Hindu culture has certain customs and beliefs that distinguishes it from other religions. Culture is transmitted through various ways from generation to generation. Language, rituals, art, and dance are some of the forms by which our culture is carried onto to our children. Understanding one’s culture is as important as understanding one’s religion as they both are integral parts of our heritage.

At Shreemaya Krishnadham, we have incorporated this in our day to day activities. Religion is promoted during the Satsangs, while language and religion classes, as well as cultural activities promote cultural awareness.

The Cultural team at Shreemaya Krishnadham is continuously working to accomplish this goal by finding new ways to empower and educate the youth of our vibrant culture and religion. Numerous events such as Diwali, Holi, Dhuleti, Navratri, Kite Flying, Rangoli competitions, cooking competitions, and various other National Holidays are planned and celebrated to provide our Parivar the same experiences that one would obtain if living in India. We hope to expand the cultural horizon by bringing such events right here to the Haveli, portraying the rituals and institutional beliefs that our country is so well known for.

Children learn a lot from their parents and other adults. It is in our hands to provide them with knowledge and values to pass on our heritage to them. Whether it be by controlling our own language and actions, or providing cultural experiences, it is our duty to guide our children through the right path in life in order to guarantee better and more knowledgeable individuals in the future.

We are currently looking for individuals who are interested in partaking in a cultural and religious revolution. If you are interested in passing down our heritage to future generations and maintaining our cultural and religious dues, please contact Saumilbhai Shah at (510)676-1842 or Mruduta Mervana at (408)238-9911.
